Junior second baseman Daniel Dickinson suffered a broken bone in his hand in the NCAA regionals, LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson said after the team won its eighth ever national championship Sunday.
Dickinson broke the hamate bone in his hand, Johnson said, in LSU’s first game of NCAA Tournament against Little Rock.
Dickinson had a batting average of .226 during the NCAA Tournament, much below his .329 for the rest of the season.

The junior transferred in from Utah Valley over the offseason and became one of the Tigers’ most impressive batters. He’s expected to enter the MLB Draft after this season.
