A new dessert trend has taken the internet by storm. At first glance, it may seem like just another chocolate bar. But this Middle Eastern treat has become a global desert sensation on social media.
Dubai chocolate offers a blend of rich flavor and unique texture, featuring a milk chocolate candy bar filled with pistachio cream and kataifi. It was originally made by Sarah Hamouda with her company, Fix Dessert Chocolatier, based in Dubai.
This online trend now has Baton Rouge businesses hopping on the trend. One of whom is Anass Ecacharkaoui, the owner of Bonjour.
This cultural dessert shop has incorporated Dubai chocolate into many of its desserts, including chocolate strawberry cups, crepes, waffles, and more.
“We have a lot of people come in and show pictures of it and say they want it. They don’t even know the name of it or how it tastes,” Ecacharkoui said.
A lot of people don’t know how or why this dessert blew up, but it has people searching high and low. Yazmen Mizyed, Store Manager of Save More Market located on Nicholson Dr. made it more happen for his customers who were begging for the product.
“Our friends actually produce it in New Orleans, so everyone has been telling us to bring it to Baton Rouge, and one day I just called them and told them to prepare me 100 pieces and I’ll come pick it up,” Mizyed said.
The store is known for its online presence and having the most viral products, drawing a lot of people to its store.
“We see a lot of new faces,” Mizyed added.
This chocolate bar grew out of Dubai and is now stocked on the shelves of various United States retailers, many calling it a “sweet” success story.
