Starting the season 3-0, LSU football has shown how complete of a team they’ve put together.
In the first SEC matchup of the season, LSU defeated Florida 20-10 in Tiger Stadium. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the game was how the secondary performed. They grabbed 5 interceptions throughout the game with two coming from then SEC and National Defensive Player of the Week Dashawn Spears. After the game, Spears stated, “he just knew the ball was going his way.”
Safety AJ Haulcy grabbed an interception, setting up a 45-yard field goal by Damian Ramos which broke the second quarter tie and put the Tigers up 13-10 at halftime.
Tamarcus Cooley took a knee in the end zone after another interception from Florida’s DJ Lagway. Ending the game strong, true freshman and former 5-star recruit DJ Pickett picked up the fifth take away of the game, and his first career interception
Dashawn Spears mentioned how “proud the team is” with how fast DJ has come in and “learned the ropes.”
Going into their third home game in a row, Tiger fans should be excited to see what the secondary can bring against the Southeastern Lions.
