LSU Soccer secured their eighth win of the season against Florida, marking their first-ever home win against the Gators.
Coming out strong from the start, forward Sariyah Bailey scored the first goal for LSU within the first minute of the game.
This was Bailey’s sixth goal in her first season as a Tiger, solidifying her spot as a freshman starter.
Leading the team with eight goals this season, forward Ava Galligan scored two out of the four total goals against Florida.
As LSU’s Senior Night, Galligan says the team played specifically for the seniors.
“When everyone else is pulling their weight, it just makes me like, okay, I really need to do my job even more,” Galligan said. “It’s just really encouraging, especially Senior Night. We have a great group of girls, so it’s really easy to play for them and we all want to do well for them.”
Celebrating her night, senior goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian showed up strong, blocking all but one of the Gators’ shots on goal the entire game.
To finish the game, midfielder Gadea Blanco González scored her first goal wearing Purple and Gold with an assist from Galligan.
“This is a team that I think has set a whole new standard for LSU soccer,” Head Coach Sian Hudson said. “Just what a force they were today, you know, huge credit to all of them, and the legacy that they’ve left here at the programs has been phenomenal.”
With a final score of 4-1, the Tigers will compete against Auburn in the first round of the SEC Championship on Sunday, November 2.
