On Wednesday evening, the LSU Tigers played the Kentucky Wildcats here in Baton Rouge.
Starting the game, the Tigers played very electric, causing an 18-point lead near the end of the first half.
Marquel Sutton played a strong game, showcasing his dominant defensive abilities while also shining offensively, scoring a total of 16 points.
“I think just being aggressive, my teammates and coaches need me to be aggressive. They tell me all the time, and they have confidence in me,” Sutton stated.
Despite the 16-point advantage at the end of the first half, the Wildcats began to fire away in the second, regaining their confidence.
Just in the second half, Kentucky scored a total of eight three-pointers. This caused an intense tie game especially towards the end of the half, with both teams calling timeouts back and forth until the final play, which all stemmed down to the very last millisecond.
With 0.1 seconds left, Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno shot a successful two-pointer that ended the game 75-74. Causing a dramatic ending to such a close match.
“Then there in the second half, a tremendous credit for Kentucky, they really got going from behind the three-point line, and we could not get enough stops,” LSU Head Coach Matt McMahon mentioned in a post-game press conference.
Although the game ended in a disappointing way for the Tigers, they must shift their vision to their next game.
The Tigers will play Missouri in the PMAC this Saturday at 2:30 PM.
