Spring has arrived, and with that the reigning national champions are back on the diamond. Tiger baseball is back in action with Head Coach Jay Johnson looking to chase history with LSU. Let’s take a deep dive into the 2026 LSU Tigers.
The 2026 Tigers are looking as stacked as ever with Coach Johnson being able to retain 19 returning players. Of these 19 we find the reigning 2025 NCAA Freshman of the year Derek Curiel, outfield stars Jake Brown and Chris Stanfield, an elite pitching staff headlined by Sophomore stud Casan Evans, and elite switch-hitting shortstop Steven Milam.
While the outfield was secure, the infield took a hit as Coach Johnson set his eyes on the portal to retool and brought in some stars. Former GCU First Basemen Zach Yorke will bring an elite left-handed bat. Versatile Kansas State infielder Seth Dardar will bring timely hitting along with his elite speed. And finally, Oregon State, and Men’s College World Series standout, Trent Caraway will bring an elite bat and glove to the hot corner in 2026.
All the talent on this squad makes for a tough game that any opponent LSU must face. The strive for success, however, sets this team apart
The 2026 Tigers are a mix of old with the spark of new. Coach Johnson has prepared his team well for the title defense, but will it be enough for LSU to make it back to Omaha.
