LSU defeated Dartmouth Sunday afternoon with a score of 3-0 to complete the weekend sweep.
On the mound for the Tigers it was sophomore right-hander William Schmidt (3-0). In his last outing, Schmidt pitched five scoreless frames against UCF in Jacksonville and was hoping to use that momentum against the Big Green back at home.
He did this and plenty more as he was the winning pitcher and set a career high in innings pitched with 7.1 and tied his career high in strikeouts with nine.
Schmidt did all of this while giving Dartmouth zero free passes as he left the walk column completely untouched.
For the Tiger offense, the bats were relatively stagnant, with the exception of outfielder Jake Brown.
Brown picked up two huge hits in the game pacing LSU’s offenseive attack. These hits included a solo home run in the bottom of the first as well as an RBI double that burned the center fielder in the bottom of the eighth.
With this win, LSU picks up their second victory against Dartmouth in three days and completes the weekend sweep.
Next up for LSU (11-1) is a familiar foe, the Northeastern Huskies, Monday night at 6:30 in The Box. As for Dartmouth (2-4), their next game is Friday night against Navy.
