The LSU Baseball team defeated Sacramento State 15-4 Friday night with the game called after six and a half innings due to a mercy rule.
LSU outfielder Jake Brown was the story of the night as the junior slugged three home runs. He finished the game with four hits and six RBIs helping the Tigers to a much needed offensive outburst.
Other key contributors were lead-off man Derek Curiel and shortstop Steven Milam as they both added home runs.
On the bump for the Tigers it was righty Casan Evans. Evans threw five and two thirds innings, racking up nine strike outs.
It was initially smooth sailing for Evans who was perfect through four innings. However, the Hornets eventually got to him in the fifth scoring two runs from a triple by Erick Dessens.
After Evans, Zion Theophilus and Marcos Paz closed out pitching duties for the Tigers.
This LSU victory comes at a perfect time with the team dropping two straight prior to Friday night.
The Tigers (12-3) look to keep the hot bats rolling into Saturday as they continue their series with Sacramento State (3-10).
