LSU students could soon use their Tiger Cards in a digital form. A new bill in the Louisiana Senate aims to make that a reality.
Senate Bill 353, proposed by Sen. Larry Selders, D-Baton Rouge, would “authorize each postsecondary system management board to make student identification cards available as a digitized credential.”
The student IDs would be available in LA Wallet, the Louisiana app that was the first in the country to offer a digital state ID.
The bill was originally proposed to allow the LSU system to digitize student IDs, but the Senate Education Committee amended it on Wednesday to expand to all Louisiana postsecondary systems before reporting it to the full Senate.
The bill is currently scheduled to make it to the floor on Monday.
