Oklahoma defeated LSU Baseball 4-2 on Friday night to even the series 1-1. Cooper Moore is credited with the loss and exited early with what looks to be an injury.
The Tigers were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base. They also had two errors on defense.
Moore started the game strong, recording two strikeouts in the first inning. In the bottom of the first Steven Milam and Jake Brown got on base. Omar Serna Jr. hit a fly ball to center field and Milam advanced to third.
With John Pearson at the plate, Brown attempted to steal second and Milam attempted to steal home. The Sooner defense threw Milam out at home to end the inning.
In the top of the second, the Sooners were held scoreless again. To lead off the bottom of the second, John Pearson crushed a home run to left field, giving LSU a 1-0 lead.
In the third inning Oklahoma struck back. Nolan Stevens doubled to left field, then Kyle Branch grounded out and Stevens advanced to third. Next, Jason Walk singled to left field and Stevens scored to tie up the game at 1-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Oklahoma’s Jaxon Willits singled up the middle. Then Deten LaChance singled to right field and Willits advanced to third. With Alec Blair at the plate, Moore threw a wild pitch and LaChance advanced to second and Willits scored. Oklahoma now leads 2-1.
The Sooners made quick work of the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth with LSU going three up, three down.
Oklahoma scored again in the fifth. Branch walked and advanced to second on a groundout. Trey Gambill singled to left field to score Branch and the Sooners lead 3-1.
The Tigers then had another three up, three down frame.
The sixth inning was where the Tigers finally pounce back.
Brown is walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Serna Jr. hit a single to left field and Brown scored from second. Score is now 3-2.
Finally, in the ninth inning, the Sooners plated one more run. Branch doubles to left field, then Gambill singles to right and Branch comes home. Sooners lead 4-2.
In the bottom of the frame, Dardar got on base, but then Stanfield hit into a double play to end the game.
With the series tied 1-1, LSU will look to come back on Saturday afternoon and take the series. The Tigers face off against the Sooners Saturday at 2 p.m. CT inside Alex Box Stadium.
