LSU’s Flau’Jae Johnson was named to the John R. Wooden All-American Team. The sought-after spot is given to the ten of the top women’s basketball players in the country.
The award is voting-based and is decided through the player’s overall performance, academics, and character, both on and off the basketball court.
Flau’Jae Johnson is a high-performing guard at LSU, where she averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in her final season. She just officially finished her fourth and last year with the Tigers after losing in the Sweet Sixteen round to Duke by a buzzer-beater shot at the last second of the game.
Johnson won a championship in 2023 and helped lead her team to four back-to-back Sweet 16’s and two Elite Eight appearances.
Earlier in the season, Johnson was named to the First-Team All-SEC and honored as a top-five shooting guard by the Naismith Ann Meyers Drysdale Award voters.
Johnson is very well-known for her character off the court, remaining active with community service wherever she goes. During her time at LSU, Johnson performed 176 hours of community service. On March 12, she was named the first-ever inaugural Kay Yow Servant Leader of the Year by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
John R. Wooden Award partners with the Special Olympics in Southern California every year, where they hold a basketball tournament for individuals in the community.
The event brings together people in the Special Olympics, previous Wooden Award All-Americans, and athletes nationwide.
