On April 7th, the Manship School hosted a press conference with Monique Morrison and Dr. Cecile Guin in the Journalism building.
Morrison is an LSU alum who has come back to campus to highlight her upcoming book, Waiting to Die: One Man’s Journey on Death Row.
The book is about Feltus Taylor, Jr, a Louisiana inmate who was sentenced to death row after a crime he committed in 1991, and his traumatic experiences that led him to violence.
LSU students and faculty were able to briefly ask Morrison and Guin questions about the book during their press conference.
LSU Alum and Editor, Monique Morrison, describes her feelings on working with Taylor Jr and her thought process when he was executed.
“When somebody’s done such a horrible thing…and to know somebody, to really walk in their shoes, to hear their personal story, you can’t help but feel moved by it and conflicted,” Morrison said.
Morrison’s book comes out on April 16th online and in stores. To experience more events like this, make sure to check out the Manship School on Instagram.
