Crowds filled the streets of Ponchatoula over the weekend for the annual Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, one of Louisiana’s largest spring events.
Each year, the festival draws people to Ponchatoula to experience its infamous strawberry culture and support local vendors. Families spent the weekend enjoying everything the festival has to offer: fresh strawberries, desserts, live music, carnival rides, and a variety of booths set up throughout the area.
For many vendors, the festival is more than just a celebration; it’s an opportunity to grow local businesses and reach new customers.
Luizza, owner of Luizza Land in Amite, Louisiana, says the exposure helps farms like hers connect with visitors who may return later in the season.
“The Strawberry Festival brings a lot of out-of-town people that wouldn’t normally get to buy our produce. So it’s really beneficial; we’re able to move a lot of berries in a short amount of time,” Luizza said.
The festival continues to serve as a tradition for Ponchatoula, highlighting local farmers while giving small businesses a chance to thrive.
If you missed the festival this year, the next Ponchatoula Strawberry fest is scheduled for April 9-11, 2027.
