After getting swept at home by the No. 9 ranked Aggies, LSU came into their matchup against UNO just looking to finally get one in the win column.
And they would do just that, defeating UNO 10-7 which was highlighted by some incredible performances from Freshman Outfielder William Patrick and Freshman Infielder Jack Ruckert.
This was Patrick’s first ever start, and he did not disappoint. His first career start was also his first career RBI, but Patrick was also able to take advantage of UNO’s lack of attrition by getting on base again by being walked.
It is not often that the last man in the batting lineup proves to be the best hitter, but that surely was the case for Ruckert. He was able to get two hits and two RBIs as he is getting more and more comfortable every time he steps up to the plate.
LSU played seven different pitchers, and they recorded a total of 17 strikeouts, and only seven hits. Sophomore Left-Handed Pitcher Danny Lachenmayer stood out among the rest. Laachenmayer may have only pitched 1.2 innings, but he still managed to record five strikeouts and zero hits.
LSU will look to take this win as a boost of confidence. They will travel to Starksville to take on No. 13 ranked Mississippi State starting on Friday, and the whole team knows that they will be playing every SEC series with a sense of urgency moving forward.
