Notably undrafted: outfielder Chris Stanfield, who’ll now likely return for his senior season in Baton Rouge.
Pitcher Conner Ware was drafted by the New York Mets in the 15th round.
Ware is a former JUCO product who became a solid rotational piece for LSU this season.
The Detroit Tigers have taken pitcher River Hamilton in the 11th round of the MLB Draft. He was committed to LSU out of Sam Barlow High in Oregon.
LSU relief pitcher Jacob Mayers has been selected in the ninth round by the Boston Red Sox, joining Anthony Eyanson, who was selected by the organization yesterday.
Mayers was dominant at Nicholls State before transferring to the Tigers this past year and playing a valuable relief role.
First baseman Jared Jones is off to the MLB, joining the Pittsburgh Pirates organization after being selected in the ninth round. Former teammate Paul Skenes is the Pirates’ All-Star pitcher.
Jones was draft eligible last year but went unselected. He returned and batted .323 with 22 home runs in his junior year.
Outfielder Paxton Kling, who spent two years with LSU but failed to really break into a talented outfield rotation, has been selected in the seventh round of the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers.
Kling spent last season with Penn State. He hit a career-high 13 home runs and led the team with a .358 batting average.
After one year with the Tigers, third baseman Daniel Dickinson is off to the MLB. He was one of the team’s strongest batters after transferring in from Utah Valley.
He’s going to the Milwaukee Brewers at No. 185.
In the early going of Day 2 of the MLB Draft, LSU has had two more high school signees drafted.
Catcher Landon Hodge went to the White Sox with pick No. 106, and pitcher Miguel Sime went to the Washington Nationals at pick No. 111. They attended Crespit Carmelite High in California and Poly Prep Country Day School in New York, respectively.
The first day of the MLB Draft is over, and four LSU athletes were drafted: pitchers Kade Anderson, Chase Shores and Anthony Eyanson and designated hitter Ethan Frey.
In addition, four high school signees committed to LSU were selected by teams and expected to not come to campus.
Day 2 starts Monday at 10:30 a.m., streaming only on MLB.com.
Breakout LSU star Ethan Frey has been drafted with the 95th pick in the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox.
Coming off of a surgery, Frey showed out and recorded a .331 batting average as the Tigers’ primary designated hitter this year. He tallied 15 doubles, 13 home runs, 50 RBI and 43 runs scored.
Frey’s a Louisiana native who grew up in Rosepine.
LSU No. 2 starting pitcher Anthony Eyanson is finally off the board in the MLB Draft, going No. 87 to the Boston Red Sox.
Eyanson had a breakout season at LSU as a junior as he recorded a 12-2 record with a 3.00 ERA in 20 appearances. He pitched 108 innings with 152 strikeouts while limiting his opponents to a .218 batting average.
He was hot to end the season, having pitched 19 straight scoreless innings over five appearances from May 17 to June 8.
Outfielder Dean Moss, an outfielder from IMG Academy in Florida, has been picked No. 67 by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was committed to LSU.
Quentin Young is the third LSU high school signee to be drafted, going No. 54 overall to the Minnesota Twins. He played as a third baseman at Oaks Christians School in California.
LSU pitcher Chase Shores is unexpectedly the second Tiger pitcher to be picked as Anthony Eyanson remains undrafted. He goes No. 47 to the Los Angeles Angels.
Shores was a starter to begin the year but transitioned to a valuable reliever role and was huge in LSU’s championship run. He had a UCL injury that prevented him from playing in 2023-24, but he overcame that to play a big role for LSU this year.
Another LSU high school draftee has been selected in the MLB Draft. This time, it’s Jaden Fauske, an outfielder out of Nazareth Academy in Illinois to the Chicago White Sox at No. 44.
LSU high school signee Brady Ebel, a shortstop out of Corona High School in California, was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers with the No. 32 pick of the first round.
Star LSU pitcher Kade Anderson has been selected by the Seattle Mariners with the No. 3 overall pick. Though some speculated he could go first overall after his incredible championship run, Anderson lands in Seattle. He pitched a 3.18 ERA with a nation-leading 180 strikeouts this season.
