Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive announced Tuesday morning that the Nashville Bridgestone Arena would be the primary home to the conference tournament beginning in 2015, according to a news release.
Nine of the next 12 men’s tournaments will take place in the Music City with the women’s tournaments taking its place in 2018, 2022 and 2026 according to Slive.
Nashville had already been awarded the tournament in 2015, 2016 and 2019.
The announcement doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the SEC recently said Slive would make a “historic announcement” on Tuesday.
Bridgestone Arena hosted the SEC men’s basketball tournament in 2001, 2006, 2010 and 2013. It hosted the women’s tournament in 2002, 2004, 2008, 2011 and 2012. The NCAA Women’s Final Four comes to Nashville for the first time in 2014.
