LSU junior defensive tackle Ego Ferguson will not play in Wednesday’s Outback Bowl against Iowa, according to Jim Kleinpeter of Nola.com.
Kleinpeter said Ferguson did not travel with the team, though the report has yet to be confirmed by an LSU official. The unnamed source cited by Kleinpeter said Ferguson is not suspended for academics but would not state the reason for his absence.
Ferguson played in every game this season, and he recorded 58 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss while picking up only one sack. The junior earned Honorable Mention All-Southeastern Conference honors, and he is likely to be replaced by sophomore Quentin Thomas.
