Grade: A
Keeping with the alt-pop vibe heard on previous-released singles leading up to Tokyo Police Club’s “Forcefield,” “Tunnel Vision” lends itself to the new, dance-y style the Canadian indie group has chosen to subscribe to. Though the track is fairly short, a characteristic of many TPC songs, it packs a definite punch that the band is seldom able to achieve. With “Tunnel Vision,” TPC is able to push boundaries it’s been trying to for years, finally achieving Strokes-esque sound quality it set out to attain. “Tunnel Vision” also shows the amount of diversity the upcoming “Forcefield” will display. “Argentina (Parts I,II,III)” is a kind of opus from the indie kings, clocking in at nearly nine minutes. “Hot Tonight” is an expected radio single, clearly written to be a sing-along. “Tunnel Vision” is meant to show the depth the band expects to reach.
