America has their eyes on the Ebola virus. But are we really at risk of contracting the disease?
Dr. Rebecca Christofferson studies viruses and believes we are not.
“I don’t think the virus will spread from Dallas to south Louisiana,” Dr. Christofferson said.
Ebola hit close to home with LSU when employee Jason Krause was quarantined after returning from a mission in Liberia.
Krause never came in contact with the Ebola virus, but he was still quarantined for precautionary reasons. He may return to campus in 21 days if no symptoms are found.
Dr. Christofferson still does not think LSU students are at risk.
“You can’t contract the virus from being within three feet of a person,” Dr. Christofferson said.
Students do not appear to be at risk at this time, but it is important for them to remain cautious.
