Mississippi State center Dillon Day was suspended for one game following “multiple flagrant and unsportsmanlike acts” in Saturday’s 34-29 victory against LSU in Tiger Stadium, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.
On two separate occasions, Day was caught on video appearing to stomp on LSU players after ball carriers were tackled. A West Monroe High School graduate, Day took to Twitter on Monday, saying in part that he was wrongfully accused.

LSU coach Les Miles said Monday he and his staff noticed the incidents before the video was brought to light and sent a complaint to the SEC offices.
Day will miss the Bulldogs’ Oct. 4 tussle with Texas A&M. He was suspended by the school for one half of last season’s win against Troy after stomping an Auburn player in the previous week’s game.
“I think not only did TV catch that but that was something that we caught, that we sent in, and certainly the conference will do the right thing,” Miles said.
“This action is the result of multiple flagrant and unsportsmanlike acts during the game, as well as previous disciplinary action for similar behavior,” said the SEC in its statement on the matter.
