Since the release of 2010’s “Champ,” Canadian indie greats Tokyo Police Club haven’t had a prominent presence in the scene, but with the release of December’s “Argentina (Parts I, II, II),” the first single released by the band in four years, the group has shown it’s back in the game. “Hot Tonight”, the second single from the record, offers up an electronic explosion reminiscent of “This Is It” era Strokes paired with a solid beckoning back to the early days of TPC. Vocalist Dave Monks’ sour croon assures listeners that the TPC of old hasn’t gone extinct, but the absence of Graham Wright’s simmering production quality gives a hint of something to be discovered on the band’s upcoming album, “Forcefield.” Dealing heavily in intrigue, the track creates a sense of wonder as to what “Forcefield” will sound like.
