Three more members of the No. 20 LSU football team can and an All-Southeastern Conference Team to their resume. The SEC announced the conference’s All-Freshman Team on Thursday afternoon.
Offensive lineman William Clapp, running back Derrius Guice and defensive end Arden Key were LSU’s representatives.
Clapp started every game this season for the Tigers at one of the two guard positions. He finished third on the team in knockdown blocks to offensive tackle Vadal Alexander and center Ethan Pocic. Clapp scored a touchdown against Ole Miss after Leonard Fournette fumbled near the goalline.
Guice totaled three touchdowns to go along with 397 yards. The Baton Rouge native’s role grew as the season went along.
His best performance was in the Tigers’ matchup with South Carolina. Guice totaled 161 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. The performance earned Guice the SEC’s Player of the Week honors for week 6.
Arden Key started each of the final eight games for the Tigers, totaling 38 tackles and five sacks.
Guice and Key were both members of LSU’s top-five recruiting class in 2015 while Clapp entered with the Tigers’ No. 2-ranked class in 2014.
