In the NCAA tournament game at the PMAC on Sunday, the Penn State women’s basketball team edged past UTEP, 85-77. The Nittany Lions will face LSU, who beat San Diego State, 64-56.
The teams entered the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 39.
Penn State (24-6) used an 11-0 run six minutes into the second half, much of it thanks to junior guard Alex Bentley and sophomore guard Maggie Lucas. Bentley finished the game to pull ahead with 21 points, while Lucas fired in a team-high 23 points.
Penn State, a 4-seed, won the Big Ten regular season title, but lost in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament to fellow 4-seed Purdue on March 3.
