Vice Provost Astrid Merget announced Tuesday the new dean of the E.J. Ourso Business College.
Eli Jones, formerly the associate dean for Executive Education Programs in the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, becomes the first minority dean of the Business College, according to an LSU news release.
“We are excited to have Eli Jones join LSU as dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business,” Merget said in the news release. “Jones brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from both corporate and academic settings, and I look forward to watching him continue the success of our business programs.”
Before becoming a professor, Jones worked in sales and management for Quaker Oats, Nabisco and Frito-Lay – three Fortune 100 companies.
Acting Chancellor William Jenkins said in the news release that he is delighted to have Jones at the University.
“We welcome his leadership in our quest to reach Flagship Agenda goals and in working with our alumni and friends to support the new business building,” Jenkins said. “I have every confidence that Dr. Jones will enjoy great success as dean.”
Jones will take over duties as dean July 1, pending approval from the LSU Board of Supervisors.
