NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana’s 2009 wish list for the incoming Obama administration boils down to this: Don’t forget us.Three-plus years after hurricanes Katrina and Rita and with billions of dollars already set aside for rebuilding, the state still has major asks and complaints.Requests include extension of tax credits to rebuild housing in the New Orleans area given the sour national economy and investor jitters and the prospect of seeking hundreds of millions of dollars from Congress for a new hospital in New Orleans amid a running dispute with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The state also claims continued challenges in agreeing with FEMA on project sizes. The state, in a transition brief, also cites needs following hurricanes Gustav and Ike this summer.
What’s on Louisiana’s wish list? Plenty — 12/24
