An estimated 2,000 Baton Rouge residents are still without power, including students in the Tiger Land area, Bill Benedetto, Entergy spokesperson told The Daily Reveille.
Benedetto said power should be restored by 10 p.m.
Power was restored to the University about two hours after the main transmitter line feeding electricity to the area crashed around 3:30 p.m., spreading power outages across the Baton Rouge area within the hour.
Evening classes were canceled because of heavy traffic and the outages.
Entergy customer service officials attributed the problem to a failed transmission line that affected at least three of its substations.
The Daily Reveille is working to get you more information on the outages. Check back at www.lsureveille.com or pick up tomorrow’s print edition of The Daily Reveille for updates.
