Active campaigning for the fall Student Government elections begins today.
The elections, to take place Nov. 7, will determine about half of the Student Senate positions and four University Court positions.
Four of the 12 races have more candidates than available positions. These competitive elections include the races for full Senate seats in the College of Arts and Sciences, the E.J. Ourso College of Business and the University College Center for Freshman Year. With three competing candidates, the two available UCFY half Senate seats are also in contention.
Senate races with equal or fewer candidates than the number of available positions include those for the College of Agriculture, College of Basic Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering, Graduate School, College of Music and Dramatic Arts and Manship School of Mass Communication.
There are four candidates for the four available University Court positions.
Active campaigning will continue until election day. Candidates are each allowed to spend a maximum of $300 on their campaigns unless they are part of a ticket. Tickets are allowed to spend at most $100 per ticket member.
