This week, LSU Student Government will host the annual Groovin’ festival with a performance by Kesha and the Creepies.
The highly anticipated free concert is sure to be packed with students, so here are a few ideas of what to wear for the big event.
One trend to try for this concert is glitter roots. Spring runways were filled with glitterfied hair and, fortunately, the trend is easy to accomplish at home.
You’ll need a clear, stiff gel — Walmart carries a few under $5 — a small, sturdy brush and a chunky glitter of your choice. Beauty experts suggest staying away from fine glitter, as it can be too abrasive for the scalp.
First, comb a precise part into your hair. Then, after mixing the gel and the glitter together, use the brush, covering your hair with the mixture until you’re satisfied with the result.
If you want to emulate the diva herself, Kesha has some iconic looks that students can try at home.
In the video for “Blah Blah Blah,” Kesha sported neon blue lipstick and a silver glitter design on her cheek. For a lip look that will last all night, try a liquid lipstick. You can pick one up at Sephora, or a less expensive alternative at Walmart or CVS.
Instead of covering yourself in glitter, try using a metallic eyeshadow as a highlighter. With a small, fluffy brush use the shadow to accent the high points of the face: cheek bones, temples and the tip of the nose.
Kesha’s music is all about getting the audience moving, so break out your best dance-friendly attire.
At her concerts, Kesha usually sports a casual, rock-n-roll style. Her go-to look is a statement t-shirt with shorts and comfortable sneakers.
Entry to Groovin’ 2017 is free for all and will be held in the PMAC at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. University students must present a valid Tiger Card.
