LSU coach Johnny Jones spoke for about 15 minutes following the Tigers’ loss to Auburn on Wednesday afternoon.
Jones said he had confidence in junior forward Aaron Epps and his 3 point shooting ability.
“It’s almost a surprise when you see him miss one,” Jones said.
Jones said there is a lot of young talent on his team, and that if they continue to mature, they will see a lot more success in the coming years.
Jones also said the players need to buy into the system and make sure they are fulfilling their roles if they want to be more successful and win more games.
Jones praised freshman guard Kieran Hayward and junior guard Jalyn Patterson for their shooting and how that spurred on other players.
The team is now 1-5 is SEC play and 9-8 overall.
Players said they are looking forward to their next game against Arkansas, a team they beat in a close game last season at home. They said they want to win and make some strides towards success, no matter the outcome of the season.
Jones was later asked about whether or not he felt as though he was in jeopardy of losing his job.
“I’m not looking at all that,” Jones said. “I’m focused on one game at a time and looking to make our guys better every game.”
