DELORES HURST, Reveille Radio News Reporter:
Pierre’s landing is known as the food mart near Patrick Taylor. It is where students can get a sandwich, some Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and a CC’s cappuccino in the same place. Last semester, Pierre’s Landing began construction; to be turned into a Chick-N-Grill. This restaurant has made a name for itself as being the freshest chicken joint around. The name and reputation is new to Louisiana because the restaurant’s main base is in Florida and has recently begun branching out to universities. LSU Dining Director David Heidke saw this trend and followed.
DAVID HEIDKE (LSU Dining Director): There’s a concept called Chick-N-Grill which is very very popular on other campuses. Just incredibly successful, great product, fresh product for the student, nice variety, so we really think this is going to be a nice change for that location and really move it forward.
HURST: Heidke believes the new restaurant will bring better revenue. The website sells the company as a healthy and green choice and has gained success from expansion. The menu includes a grill chop option, build your own salad bar and a variety of wraps.
HEIDKE: The fresh food, everything is prepared on site.
HURST: After getting positive feedback from a sampling in December; he believes students will enjoy the new food. Students will be able to use their meal plans and tiger cash to make purchases and they can expect to try Chick-N-Grill very soon.
HEIDKE: Right now, we’re looking at the complete remodel to be finished and complete program to be ready by January 31st.
HURST: I’m Delores Hurst with your Reveille Radio News.
