It’s been more than a decade since Destiny’s Child split, but former manager Mathew Knowles has a new group up his managerial sleeves.
Knowles is introducing the music industry to a new music trio called Blushhh Music, meaning Beauty Lives Under Stoned HHHearts. The three H’s symbolize the three hearts and members that make the group.
Blushhh Music is like no other girl group. They move away from the beats and lyrics of today’s pop culture, separating themselves from groups like Fifth Harmony and Little Mix.
The trio was first established in 2013, but plans to dominate the music industry with their first single, “Old School Back.”
The song opens with Tupac speaking. It utilizes a smooth, mid-tempo and trendy beat mirroring a 90’s sound, which is the trio’s whole look. The song mixes old school hip hop and R&B with today’s sounds.
Blushhh Music’s sound isn’t the only trait that separates it from today’s girl groups. The trio consists of two rappers and one vocalist – Sunnie, Bunni Ray and Tali.
With Sunnie and Bunni Ray spitting a few bars and Tali contributing her vocals, the single easily reminds listeners of 90’s female groups like TLC and Salt-N-Pepa.
The combination makes for something the music industry hasn’t seen in a long time.
What makes them even more interesting is that the women all hail from Houston–like the original Destiny’s Child.
Their first album will be called “Old School Hip Hop Past, Present, and Future,” and will feature sounds similar to their single “Old School Back.”
This sound is different from what music lovers hear today. However, the trio must get real creative to peak and keep today’s generation interested in their music. Who doesn’t love a good old school jam? But that’s just it. It’s music the industry and listeners have heard before.
The women look to make a different, new and fresh dent in the music industry with their sound and may have a real chance with Knowles leading the way. The equation of old and new may result in a remodel of the music industry and what comes after.
It’s possible. We’ve accepted Pandas. We’ve accepted songs from Future, even when we can’t understand the lyrics. “We’ve Run the World” with Beyonce and saw Rihanna shoot a man down. We idolize Kanye.
Nonetheless, we’ll have to see where Blushhh Music’s journey will take them. Blushhh Music is a hip-hop trio sure to make headlines soon. Just wait and see.
