NBC is bringing the little screen to the big screen — giving University students a sneak peek of “Revelations,” a new television program.
The show will screen at the United Artists Citiplace Theater on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
The screening will be broadcast via live, closed-circuit satellite from New York City to select college audiences nationwide, said Maryann Ridini, president of Ridini Entertainment Corporation, a public relations and production company working with NBC for the screening.
Baton Rouge is one of nine nationwide markets to see the screening, Ridini said. Theaters in California, Washington, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and New York will be included in the screening, Ridini said.
The one-time broadcast will air the show’s first episode, which will air on NBC on Wednesday, April 13 at 8 p.m. The broadcast will also include a live question-and-answer period with the show’s cast, producer and writer, Ridini said.
The event will be hosted by NBC Entertainment president, Kevin Reilly, as part of a new marketing campaign, Ridini said.
The screening is the first of its kind, Ridini said.
Because of the show’s powerful subject matter, NBC wanted a marketing strategy that would be just as special and powerful, Ridini said.
“Revelations” deals with philosophy, faith and the supernatural, Ridini said.
“The general public has a great interest in the supernatural,” Ridini said.
The show should appeal especially to college students, Ridini said.
Because of the subject matter, NBC invited university students studying religion, television, philosophy or political science to take part in the screenings, she said.
The question-and-answer period should be lively and interesting because the live audience will consist of students, Ridini said.
“Since students are studying the subject matter, it should be very exciting,” she said.
Ridini said the question-and-answer period will be broadcast to about 3,000 students across the country who will be able to ask questions. MSNBC anchorman Lester Holt will host the question-and-answer period.
Access Hollywood and MSNBC will film and publicize the events, Ridini said.
