Students have until midnight tonight to drop classes without receiving a “W,” and they can add classes until Thursday, Jan. 30.
The last day to add classes used to come before the last day to drop, University Registrar Robert Doolos said.
The drop date for classes was changed in January 1999 because students would drop classes, but no student could add because the date to add already had passed, he said.
“We wanted to give students a chance to test the waters in the class and give other students a chance to get in that class,” Doolos said.
Students can add classes until 5 p.m. Thursday.
The University’s final purge is also scheduled for Thursday night.
“Even if [students] have a zero balance, they need to go on PAWS and let us know,” Doolos said.
Purged students will have a much harder time scheduling their classes, he said.
After this deadline, students must have permission from their dean to add classes, Doolos said. Deans grant permission on a case-by-case basis.
Students can access their fee bills through their PAWS accounts or through the Bursar’s office to avoid being purged. Students can view their fee bills by clicking on “registration services,” then “fee bill.”
