While some students are about to spend their hard-earned paychecks on a trip next week, two University students will be enjoying four days on the beach courtesy of LSU Dining.
As part of its “Destination Dining” program, LSU Dining Services gave away two trips to Orange Beach, Ala., this month to students who regularly eat at places on campus.
The prize package includes hotel accommodations for four days and three nights, and $400 dollars — $100 for gas, $200 for food and $100 for fun — said Aprille Wright, the marketing director for LSU Dining. Each winner gets to bring three friends.
LSU Dining used random drawings to choose the winners. Those who qualified were students registered on a spring meal plan and those with Frequent Customer Cards.
Julia Corner, a mass communication freshman, won the Frequent Customer Cards drawing.
“I was excited when I found out,” Corner said. “I originally wasn’t planning on going anywhere for Spring Break, but now that I won, my friends and I are going to go.”
The Destination Dining program has been around for the last three years, but LSU Dining has been giving away Spring Break trips longer than that, Wright said.
“We started Destination Dining because we wanted a program on campus to give back to the loyal students who support on-campus dining,” Wright said.
The other winner, Jason Waguespack, is another student who frequents the LSU dining halls. He was included in the drawing for students registered for a spring meal plan.
LSU Dining paid for most of the trip, but some funds are from vendor sponsors, Wright said.
The drawings were held March 10 and the two winners will receive their cash Friday. The hotel accommodations are for April 5 through April 8.
