On Friday the Tigers took on Omaha in a weekend series that led them to yet another win. Although Omaha beat the Tigers in the second game, it didn’t affect LSU and they went on to beat them in the second game of the double header on Saturday.
Anthony Eyanson took the mound for the second time this season and pitched a full six innings with three hits and allowing zero runs. He had 21 at bats and seven strikeouts, and a total of 93 pitches. Grant Fontenot, Connor Benge and Cooper Williams also made an appearance on the mound during the game to pitch a total of three innings.
Omaha beat the Tigers 5-4, ending LSU’s winning streak. But that didn’t stop the Purple and Gold from beating the Mavericks in the second game.
Chase Shores took over for the Tigers and pitched a full five innings, with three hits and 17 at bats. He struck out six times and had 84 pitches. Zac Cowen and Jacob Meyers also pitched for a total of three innings and allowed one run total. They had a total of nine at bats and five strikeouts combined.
DJ Primeaux and Jaden Noot also came in to pitch for the Tigers but only pitched 0.3 innings combined. They had a total of three at bats and one strikeout. The final score was 12-1 LSU.
“I would say I don’t really prepare for anything differently, just kind of stick to my process and do what I’ve been doing,” LSU Right Handed Pitcher Chase Shores said. “It sucks to lose the first game but I'm pitching on game 3’s. So, 1-1 in the series just kind of got to go take care of business.”
LSU is preparing to take on Nicholls on Monday at 6 p.m.
