The Forward Foret-Tatman campaign has been reinstated after being disqualified due to allegations of bribery. A monthlong investigation concluded just in time for active campaign week.
Foret and Tatman addressed the news on Instagram.
“We were falsely accused and disqualified over allegations surrounding our campaign,” the post read. “We trusted in the Lord, and justice has prevailed.”
The decision follows concerns about fairness, as several judges involved in the case also served on the university court. Critics questioned whether this compromised the impartiality of the ruling.
Despite the recent controversy, Foret and Tatman participated in the presidential debate on Tuesday, discussing their proposed policies and plans if elected.
In his closing statement, Foret highlighted the challenges his campaign has faced and their resilience.
“Do we want to be a student government that includes people, or one that kicks them out before their name is even on the ballot over fraudulent claims?” Foret said. “It’s time that we move forward and move LSU forward.”
Voting will open Thursday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. and close Friday, March 21, at 4:30 p.m. Students can access the ballot through TigerLink.
