LSU baseball’s ace, Kade Anderson, earned the SEC Pitcher of the Week honor following a complete game shutout on Thursday night.
Against No. 10 Oklahoma, Anderson took the mound and shoved 135 pitches in 9.0 innings of work. The pitch count and innings worked are both career highs.
Anderson held Oklahoma to zero runs and allowed only five hits and two walks. He also sent 14 Sooners back to the dugout on strikeouts.
Anderson started his freshman season as the midweek starter and became an undeniable option for the Tigers’ ace going into his second season.
Anderson currently ranks fourth in the country in strikeouts this season with 74.
The left-handed pitcher gets an extra day of rest this week before he likely toe the rubber on Friday to face No. 9 Auburn.
That game opens LSU’s second consecutive top-10 series. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Samford Stadium in Auburn, Ala.
