LSU Baseball hit the road South to the city of Thibodaux to face off against Nicholls State, and after a challenging start to this game, the Tigers prevailed 5-3 over the Colonels.
After falling behind 3-0, LSU had their backs against the wall until a string of singles got them the lead.
Chris Stanfield, Jake Brown, and Steven Milam all had run-scoring knocks as the Tigers put up a five spot in the top of the seventh.
“We have a saying that there’s no clock in baseball”, Head Coach Jay Johnson said. “Thank goodness that was the case tonight.”
The pitching staff helped keep the Tigers in the game, as key relief appearances kept the Colonels off the board in the later innings, most notably William Schmidt.
“A couple pitchers did a nice jobs of getting us out of jams”, Johnson said of his pitching staff. “I am proud of them for finding a way to win.”
The Bayou Bengals will now head East for another road SEC series, this one against another “tiger” opponent, Auburn. First pitch is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
