In the top of the ninth Arkansas Justin Thomas hit a 2-RBI single, giving the Razorbacks a two-run lead over the Tigers. LSU only had three outs to make something happen, and Jared Jones came in clutch for the second time that night.
“Down but never out,’ Derek Curiel said, ‘We’ve had a lot of come from behind wins this year.”
“There is no clock in baseball; there’s 27 outs,’ Jared Jones said, ‘Happy Luis got the job done, and I’m happy I got him in.”
Before the game winning run, Zac Cowan was the guy handling business for the Tigers. He pitched a career-high on the mound and struck out 6 hogs.
“It means the world when I have the trust from the coaching staff,” Cowan said.
At one point the at bats almost looked like a game of chess. Arkansas intentionally walked Josh Pearson, hoping for a righty on righty match up with Chris Stanfield, but they were greeted with a Jake Brown pinch hit 2-RBI single.
“It was the time to use him,’ Jay Johnson said, ‘Jake is a really confident player.”
