After practice on Friday, LSU football head coach Brian Kelly told reporters the official diagnosis on redshirt senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier‘s recently-suffered injury that had many fans on the edge of their seats.
Kelly said Nussmeier has patellar tendinitis in his knee — not a torn ACL, as many speculated on social media in the past few days.
“On a scale from 1 to 10, this is a 1.5,” Kelly said.
Rumors that Nussmeier had suffered a serious injury in practice started circulating Wednesday, but it was shut down by multiple news sources, citing sources close to Nussmeier and the team.
Kelly said Nussmeier was throwing today and will join full practice again tomorrow.
Practice wasn’t open to reporters on Friday after initially being scheduled as open to media, but reporters spoke with Kelly and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan after.
