LSU Football entered practice on Monday ranked No. 9 in the Top 25 Preseason AP Poll.
Backup quarterback Michael Van Buren looks more accurate with his passes each practice. Juan Johnson stayed with the running backs for the entirety of practice. Before joining the quarterback room, Johnson was a running back.
During 1v1, receiver Nic Anderson and DJ Pickett were a fun match up to watch. Aaron Anderson had his first practice back, and he seemed to be running all of his drills at 100%.
Overall, the offense looked really promising out there. Now, that does not mean they dominated the defense because they did not. The defense was making them work for it.
There are still a lot of battles for different positions on both sides of the ball, and the players have to win every rep they are given. Freshman offensive lineman Carius Curne was pulled out of 11v11 and forced to run because he kept false starting.
Practice was intensive from both the coaches and the players, but it was also very energetic. The camaraderie and passion to win is almost contagious.
The team will practice again on Tuesday with only 20 days until their season opener.
