LSU Volleyball is heating up as they added another match to the win column after defeating Southeastern 3-0.
The superstar outside hitter duo of Jurnee Robinson and Nia Washington proved to be too much for Lions as they combined for 26 kills and 13 digs.
“She’s just so fiery on the court, and I think we needed that… and I think she just does her job”, Robinson stated when talking about her teammate Washington.
Although the score might not show it, Southeastern also came to play. Keeping it close in every set, and eventually coming back late in the game. LSU Volleyball Head Coach Tonya Johnson says her team’s determination shined through.
“All season long, we’ve gotten down in some sets, and we’ve just shown how gritty we can be in the end… Just proud of how they stayed poised at the end there and came back and won the set.”
Though Washington and Robinson did have amazing performances, it was really a great team effort. LSU Volleyball Right Side Tireh Smith had 8 kills, and Defensive Specialist Laurel Cassidy had 9 digs.
“It was more nailing it where we know. Nia Washington said about the overall team performance. “Getting our serves in, and everything went well.”
The Tigers hope to extend their five game winning streak by two more as they will face off against the No. 16 USC Trojans on September 18th and 19th in Los Angeles, California.
