After LSU’s win over the Florida Gators, some students shared their controversial take on the Tigers’ performance from Saturday.
First question: What’s your controversial take based on the Tigers’ Performance on Saturday’s game?
“My take is I don’t think our offense is bad,” freshman Reese Ward said. “I just think we get in our heads sometimes and we overthink it, so we just need to be more in control of what we do, and I think we can be really good.”
“LSU’s Defense is the No.1 Defense in the Country,” sophomore Noah Wilson said.
“I would definitely say the playcalling by the refs,” senior Joy Dartez said. “I mean, you saw that hit by Whit Weeks. I would say the Florida player did tuck his head down, which made it look like a head-on collision.”
Second Question: What are you most worried about as the Tigers get deeper into SEC play?
“My biggest worry is we’re going to get too over the top,” Ward said. “So, last week with the Tech game, we came off a big win with Clemson, and I guess we got a little bit cocky, and we didn’t play our best against Tech. We always rise to the occasion, but sometimes when we feel we’re on a high, we don’t do as well. Stay firm and strong in who they are.”
“We need to stop the bone-headed picks from Nussmeier,” Wilson said. “We can’t have a pick like we had in the game. That was terrible.”
“I’m worried about the cockiness,” Dartez said. “I mean, they’re 3-0 right now, but they’re also not the only team in college football that is 3-0, cause everyone is fighting for the same spot right now. I would definitely say stay levelheaded and stay grounded because they have yet to play the “bigger” SEC schools like Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Ole Miss.”
Third Question: What do you think the Tigers need to do in order to fix those things?
“I think they really need to come together behind the scenes and work together even more,” Ward said. “I think they have a great team building connection, but I think they need to work on staying humble and doing what they love, but doing it as a unit and not by themselves.
“We should open up the offense for Nussmeier and let him throw the ball more, so I feel he’s getting his opportunities to throw it,” Wilson said. “I don’t feel like we’re doing it as much, but that’s what I think.”
“Practice,” Dartez said. “Focusing on each other. Listening to each other. Listen to yourselves because injuries get pretty high-end, so listen to your bodies and take the season seriously because everyone wants to win, but not everybody wins, so just focus on taking everything seriously.”
