The LSU Volleyball team upset No. 23 Florida in the fifth set, 15-4, at the PMAC on Sunday afternoon.
After dropping the first set against the Gators, 25-16, the Fighting Tigers remained dominant and won the next two sets.
Florida came back in set four, so it would be a winner takes all in the fifth set.
The passion and want for this win was visible from the players and coaching staff. They played their best set yet and won the match 3-2.
This was the Bayou Bengals first time beating the Gators in volleyball since 2021, and it was Head Coach Tonya Johnson’s first time beating Florida during her reign at LSU.
The impressive stats do not stop there. Jurnee Robinson had a career high of 34 kills, which accounts for a little over half of LSU’s kills in the match (66). Robinson remains top in the SEC for most kills and points this season.
The Tigers are now 2-2 in conference play and look to play Alabama on Friday in Tuscaloosa.
