The L-S-U Food Pantry is encouraging students to take part in the food drive competition against South Carolina by donating nonperishable food items this week. Students can contribute by dropping off non-perishables into bins stationed around campus.
It could be as simple as checking your pantry for canned goods that you don’t have use for anymore. The food pantry is in dire need of canned goods, with no canned goods on the shelves at this moment. Every food item and dollar donated will count as a point against South Carolina.
“For me the food pantry has really given me the opportunity to see the direct impact that we have on our students. We serve full time, part-time, grad, online, pretty much anyone who is enrolled in at least one credit hour are eligible to come into the food pantry,” Graduate Assistant Kate Russel said.
Donations will be accepted throughout this week and ending after the game on Saturday. Students can visit give.lsufoundation.org to make a monetary donation to the pantry. All proceeds go towards the winning school’s food pantry. This is also the first year that L-S-U is competing with a S-E-C school one-on-one. Look for collection boxes labeled “L-S-U Food Fight” across campus to drop off your donations and support the cause.
