Coming back from fall break, students and faculty were welcomed with internet issues spanning from Moodle to apps like Snapchat and Venmo. During this, many reached out to LSU IT services to find out if the issue was school-related.
LSU IT Service Manager Adam Clary makes sense of the outage and how it could occur to students and staff alike.
“We got lots of emails, lots of phone calls from staff, faculty and students. Really everybody because it was such a widespread [issue]. Y’know AWS is Amazon they’re kind of everywhere, so it obviously impacted Moodle it impacted a lot of services we provide. But it also impacted, going to Amazon to try to buy something, it impacted things in everyday life.”
Students who are concerned about future outages can sign up for a newsletter from LSU IT services through their MyLSU portal. The contents span from updates they are doing to Moodle to more serious impacting outages like this one.
