After Friday’s loss against No.9 Texas A&M, LSU Tigers came in strong against the Texas Longhorns.
The first two sets were neck-to-neck, the Tigers were consistent with their drive and had good attacks against Texas. However, the Longhorns quickly adjusted, winning the first set 27-25 and the second set 25-21.
Outside Hitter Nia Washington and Jurnee Robinson lead the team in their performances this game. Combined they had a total of 28 kills and 11 digs.
As the game continued, the Longhorns strengthened their power and the tigers lost theirs. This team has the physicality and spirit, but it’s their mindset that’s costing them these matchups.
“Mentally learn how to close the door”, Washington said. “We need more fire under us to end the game.”
Coach Tonya Johnson wants to see consistency in order for this team to make a comeback, after extending their losing streak to three.
“If we play the way we did in the first two sets and on Friday night against Texas A&M, I think we have a great opportunity,” Johnson said.
The Tigers will be back in the PMAC to take on Mississippi State on Halloween night.
