The U.S. Senate passed a bill that would end the government shutdown by a 60-40 vote late Monday night.
The continuing resolution (CR) would keep the government funded through January of 2026. The CR was passed after Republicans came to an agreement with a group of eight moderate Democrat Senators. It would end what has now become the longest government shutdown in American history, lasting for 41 days as of Monday.
The CR now heads to the House, where Mike Johnson said he will call for a vote as soon as possible.
