This weekend for LSU football, it’s interim vs. interim coach, unranked team vs. unranked team, and most importantly, it’s the Battle of the Golden Boot against Arkansas in Death Valley.
With Arkansas’ 2-7 overall record and LSU’s 5-4 record, these teams have very little to lose, competing only for who will take the $10,000-valued golden boot-shaped trophy home in this personal rivalry.
LSU has defeated Arkansas for four straight years, but as these teams come together for this weekend’s matchup, there are still some threats lurking on Arkansas’ side of the ball. Here are four Razorback players to keep an eye out for.
Taylen Green
Redshirt senior quarterback Taylen Green is playing in his second season as a Razorback, having transferred from Boise State University at the end of 2023.
In Green’s first game against LSU, he passed for 240 yards and one touchdown, but rushed -10 yards, having been tackled behind the line of scrimmage last year.
When looking at his overall career, he’s thrown for 9,320 yards and 59 touchdowns, while rushing for 2,275 yards and 33 touchdowns. In the 2025 season, Green’s rushing game has improved, having rushed 602 yards last year compared to 649 this year, marking his career high in rushing.
While Arkansas has had a struggling season thus far, its offense is ranked No. 5 in the SEC as of Nov. 11, giving them a fighting chance against LSU’s defense with Green paving the way for his teammates.
Mike Washington Jr.
Following Green on the offensive side of the ball is senior running back Mike Washington Jr.
Two-time transfer from the University at Buffalo and New Mexico State University, Washington became a Razorback this year. He has 2,672 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, as well as 395 receiving yards and three touchdowns to his name.
At Arkansas, he has rushed for 828 yards and six touchdowns and has received 151 yards and one touchdown across 16 complete receptions.
Against Texas A&M, during Arkansas’ 45-42 loss, he stood out with 147 rushing yards. Prior to A&M, Washington rushed for two touchdowns against Ole Miss as the Razorbacks fell 41-35.
As Arkansas has clawed its way to extremely close wins, but ultimately falling short, Washington is definitely expected to put up a fight this weekend.
O’mega Blake
Yet another transfer on the Razorback roster is redshirt senior wide receiver O’mega Blake, who’s bringing the receiving strength on Arkansas’ offense.
Having competed for the University of South Carolina for two years and then University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Blake found his way to Fayetteville, Arkansas this year.
Securing 102 career receptions, 1,707 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, 50 of those receptions, 661 of those yards and four of those touchdowns have been made at Arkansas.
Blake saw his season-high in receiving yards in Arkansas’ 52-7 win over AAMU, with 121 yards caught along with one touchdown.
Xavian Sorey Jr.
Leading Arkansas’ defense is redshirt senior linebacker Xavian Sorey Jr.
This 2024 UGA transfer has 187 career tackles — 88 solo and 99 assists — with 163 earned at Arkansas. Sixty-nine of those Arkansas tackles are solo and 94 are assisted.
Sorey saw his season-high in tackles against Texas A&M with 11 total tackles.
