LSU Football’s Mansoor Delane is named one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award. The award is given out to the best defensive back in college football.
Delane is joined by Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore as the three finalists for the award.
Since arriving to LSU as a transfer from Virgina Tech, Delane has been one of the brightest stars on the LSU defense.
With one game remaining Delane has two interceptions and 10 pass breakups. In 10 games this season he has only given up 13 receptions and 147 yards with no touchdowns allowed.
Delane projects as a certified first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft and among the first cornerbacks taken off the board. He looks to join past LSU winners in Grant Delpit, Morris Claiborne and Patrick Peterson.
